Position Summary:
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing assistance with curriculum and program planning for Head Start. The position reports to the Center Director and operates under close supervision with little latitude for the use of independent judgment, discretion and initiative.
Essential Job Duties:
- Ensure safety in performing all job responsibilities and adhere to safety policy
- Maintain clean/safe work area, classroom, and gross motor and playground areas
- Assist with planning and preparation of daily activities
- Encourage parents to give input into daily curriculum and document on lesson plans and to complete physical, dental and health screenings and follow-up in a timely manner
- Assist with the implementation child’s Individual Education Plan / Individual leaning Plan into classroom activities
- Integrate activities from all content areas into the classroom
- Provide customer service in reception, greet and direct visitors at the site
- Follow step-by-step activities as outlined in content area plans and policies and procedures
