Learn more about working with us at We are looking for a qualified **Senior Software Engineer, Field Survey Applications (Java, C++)** based in Italy.
**Working Location:**We offer a **hybrid and flexible work setup** that supports both in-person collaboration and individual focus.
This role requires **three days per week in the office**, preferably at our **Concordia sulla Secchia (Modena)** location or, alternatively, at our **Ancona office**.
**Job Purpose**The **Senior Software Engineer, Field Applications**, will work on the development of Field software for Android/Windows/Linux/i OS to support wide range of Topcon and 3rd party equipment like GNSS Receivers, Robotic Optical Totals Stations, depth finders, laser range finders.
Development skills and experience in: C++, Java, Communication protocols, Android Studio.
**Core Job Responsibilities:*** Works with the project manager, team leader, and software team to plan and manage delivery schedules.
* Acts as the single point of contact for all issues related to a particular software module development, high-level design, and delivery, and as such, works with all other engineering disciplines.
* Evaluates and schedules all changes in the scope of the module design and delivery* Performs modules maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to new/existing systems through programming, testing, and documenting.
* mplements support of Topcon Optical Robotic Total Stations, Topcon GNSS Receivers, Mass Data collection devices, and other equipment in the Geomatics Field Survey software for Android/i OS/Windows/Linux written in Java/C++ or Qt/Qml/C++.
* Supports our mature software (Java)* Implements Surveying routines* Follows, recommends, and implements software processes* Provides technical directions to others as necessary* Analyze and resolve technical and application problems**Minimum Job Requirements****Education & Experience*** Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or a related field* Overall software development experience of at least 3 years.
* Experience in software development process implementation* Experience with software development tools (configuration management, design, emulation, debugging, compilers, static analysis, ai, test, etc.)* 3+ years of professional experience in C++ development or Java development* Experience with Android development (Android Studio) is required* Experience in supporting industrial or any other type of hardware equipment is a great plus* Knowledge of Qt/QML, MFC a plus* Experience with Windows, Linux, or i OS development is a plus* Experience with computational geometry, spatial algorithms and/or 3 D Rendering (Direct X, Open GL) will be a plus* Experience with Geodesy, Geodetic Coordinate systems, Geoid, Vertical Datum,
GNSS and/or Optical Survey, CAD will be a plus**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes*** Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
* Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and multithreading concepts.
* Familiarity with cross-platform development and GUI frameworks.
* Knowledge of bug tracking systems (JIRA) and version control systems.
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
* Good knowledge of Java* Good knowledge of C++, Standard Library, Boost* Knowledge of network protocol analyzers and communication protocols used over Ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB, Bluetooth, BLE, RS232 is a great plus.
