Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Mechanical Engineering

Overview
In this role you will join Nature Mechanical Engineering to shape and grow a new flagship journal. You will manage original research submissions, steer peer review, and help develop content strategy across mechanical engineering. You will commission reviews and editorials, collaborate with editors across the Nature portfolio, and engage with researchers at conferences and institutions. This position offers influence over the journal’s direction and its integration with a global research community.

Responsabilità
- Handle original research papers and oversee the editorial process from selection to decision
- Contribute to content development and strategy for the journal area
- Commission and edit content such as Reviews, Perspectives, and Comments, and write editorials




- Collaborate with editors at other Nature Portfolio journals
- Attend conferences and visit research institutions

Requisiti fondamentali
- PhD with a strong research track record relevant to the journal fields
- Broad scientific knowledge and training
- Excellent literary and communication skills
- Ability to absorb new areas of research
- strong written and verbal communication
- ability to work across disciplines
- proactive editorial judgment
- broad mechanical engineering expertise (materials, manufacturing, thermal engineering)
- experience with manuscript handling and peer review processes
- content development and editorial strategy
