A key player in major strategic programs at the global level, Leonardo is a technology and industrial partner to governments, defence administrations, institutions, and businesses. /p pThis Request is for the recruitment of one resource to join the Electrical Systems department. /p h3Mission /h3 pThe role has a varied scope involving design, verification support of electrical systems, power generation and distribution systems (including lighting systems), from initial concept through to supporting flight test and in-service operations, across a range of helicopter platforms. /p pIn addition to supporting current helicopter programs, the department has a future strategy to support the development of more/all electric rotorcraft. /p pThe position will allow to follow entirely the project, from the initial definition till in-service performances. /p pThe role is within the Electrical Systems team, which is a part of the Airframe Department within the Engineering Directorate. /p h3Activities /h3 pThe purpose of the role is to carry out engineering activities for electrical systems on current and future platforms. /p pThe department is responsible for a broad range of electrical systems, as such the role has the scope for involvement with the following: /p ul liPlatform Electrical Power management: generation systems, starting systems, power conversion systems, distribution systems and batteries. /li liPlatform lighting requirements (emergency, internal and external) including use of Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS). /li liAnti Icing and Deicing Protection systems. /li liElectrical integration of several airframe systems (eg: ventilation, heating, ECS, hydraulics, fuel, rescue hoist, cargo hook, flotation, pitot, intakes, engine, APU, ...) /li /ul pAreas of responsibility will include : /p ul liSystem architecture definition, design and analysis. /li liRequirements capture, allocation, derivation, validation and verification.



/li liPreparation of technical specifications and other project documentation. /li liReview of electrical design, including engineering drawings. /li liConduct presentations at technical design reviews. /li liPreparation of test documentation and conduct integration testing. /li liParticipate in aircraft trials. /li liSupport test at the Electric Lab. /li liQualification and certification of equipment and systems. /li liTechnical management of internal / external suppliers. /li liSupporting bid activities with future Customers. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 h3Essential /h3 ul liDegree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or a related field) required. Background in electrical subjects is mandatory. /li liSkilled in electrical network modelling and Simulation tools software (Matlab, Simulink, Amesim). /li liDetailed knowledge and experience in areas of electrical systems, eg electrical machines, inverter, converter, electrical storage. /li liProject management responsibility and reporting to the head of function. Including scheduling abilities. /li liGood English, written and spoken. /li liProactive approach, able to perform the assigned tasks with minimum oversight. /li /ul h3Desirable /h3 ul liExperience of aerospace engineering and operations. /li liExperience of avionic Data Protocols (ARINC 429, AFDX, CAN BUS…). /li liExperience of integration, qualification and certification of Electrical Power systems would be an advantage. Also in automotive or industrial fields. /li liExperience of aerospace standards, e.g.MIL-STD-704F, RTCA/DO-160G, RTCA/DO-178C, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-311A. /li liExperience of the challenges associated with unmanned systems. /li liKnowledge in the development of system architectures would be an advantage. /li liKnowledge of systems engineering tools for requirements management and system modelling, e.g. IBM Rational DOORS. /li liExperience of managing personal tasks on time and within budget. /li liKnowledge and appreciation of the full Systems Engineering life cycle and System Safety Analysis.
