SUEZ is a world leader in smart and sustainable resource management, and our Air & Climate unit provides consulting services and develop and deploy digital solutions that address the key environmental needs of our customers.ARIANET, the Air & Climate unit in Italy, delivers studies, develops, designs, installs and manages cutting-edge solutions related to air quality management: diagnostic, real-time monitoring, forecast and scenario studies, for a proven customer base of industries, public and para-public entities.To provide the best environmental solutions for our customers, we are strengthening our applied modeling team which performs studies and develops and manage simulation systems in industrial and urban areas.In this context, we are looking for an:Air quality modelerYour missionYou will join the ARIANET team, and you will be involved in atmospheric modelling, concerning mainly dispersion, chemical transformation and ground deposition of pollutants at regional and urban scales.You will mainly use a simulation system including meteorological and emission models and based on FARM (Flexible Air Quality Regional Model) chemical-transport model, developed by ARIANET in collaboration with national and international research centers and with a significant user base.You will contribute to the multiple applications of the system, typically: operational forecast of ambient air quality, yearly air quality assessments, reconstruction of past events, estimation of sources contributions, scenario studies in support of policy planning and impact assessment studies. These activities will also include drafting the relevant technical reports and presenting the results to clients,



mostly public but also private.You will progressively participate in the development of the models’ new features, documenting them.You will also be able to actively participate in research activities carried out within European projects and to contribute to the drafting of scientific publications.Your profileYou are the one if you:have a master's degree in physics, engineering, environmental sciences, or related disciplinespossess basic knowledge of atmospheric physics and/or meteorology, acquired through university courses or documented post-graduate experiencehave 2-4 years’ work experience in the field of atmospheric modellinghave a good command of Unix/Linux environments and of Fortran or Python programming languageshave good knowledge of the English language and good writing skillshave a strong motivation and interest in actively working in the environmental fieldhave good analytical and communication skillscan work independently while coordinating within a teamFollowing proven expertise and skills are a strong plus:PhD in meteorology, atmospheric physics or chemistry, natural sciences, environmental engineeringexperience with numerical modeling and scientific programminghigh-performance computing environments, parallelization and optimization of computational codesuse of machine-learning in support of quantitative analyses and modelling in environmental fielduse of GIS for environmental applicationsConditionsPlace of work: Milano.Salary: 32-38 k€ yearly gross (excluding premio), commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.SUEZ encourages and values diversity in gender, ethnicity, generation, culture, health, physical condition, sexual orientation, etc.#J-18808-Ljbffr
