pAmerican Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter JobID: **** /p ul liPosition Type:br/Student Support Services/ Interpreter of the Deaf (Sign Language) /li /ul pbr/bEducational Interpreter of the Deaf /bbr/bFull Time Assignment for the school year /b:bEmployed by Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools for a student assigned to Education Alternatives/Ravenna /bbr/bCompetitive Salary, medical, dental, vision life insurance coverages plus STRS/SERS offered /bbr/Objective: Primary function is to facilitate communication, providing interpreting services in inclusive, mainstream, and self-contained settings.
To serve as a liaison in promoting positive relations between the Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, their hearing peers, faculty, administration and other staff.br/This facilitator will need to have strong American Sign Language skills as well as understand the role of facilitating languagebr/Essential Job Functions: /p ul liDemonstrate knowledge of the Ohio Guidelines for Educational Interpreters /li liFollow classroom schedule and interpret for students as mandated by the student's IEP /li liInterpret all class activities (during the contracted day) to include: lectures, discussions, films/videos,



assemblies, and any related assignment /li liCollaborate as a member of the educational team obtaining lesson plans as well as providing in-service for new staff members about working with an interpreter/DHH student in the educational setting /li liMaintain confidentiality as required by District policy, The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Professional Code of Conduct, and applicable law /li liPursue self-improvement and professional development opportunities in signing ability, interpreting skills and establishing a better understanding of the educational process /li liAttend all In-service/Professional Development programming and staff meetings as required /li /ul pMinimum Qualifications: /p ul liOhio Department of Education Associate License Interpreter for the Hearing Impaired /li liStrong interpersonal skills /li liAbility to lift equipment, supplies and/or children weighing at least forty (40) pounds /li liPhysical ability to perform all of the essential functions of the job.
