/p h3Position Summary: /h3 pThe Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing assistance with curriculum and program planning for Head Start.
The position reports to the Center Director and operates under close supervision with little latitude for the use of independent judgment, discretion and initiative.
/p h3Essential Job Duties: /h3 ul liEnsure safety in performing all job responsibilities and adhere to safety policy /li liMaintain clean/safe work area, classroom, and gross motor and playground areas /li liAssist with planning and preparation of daily activities /li liEncourage parents to give input into daily curriculum and document on lesson plans and to complete physical, dental and health screenings and follow-up in a timely manner /li liAssist with the implementation child's Individual Education Plan / Individual leaning Plan into classroom activities /li liIntegrate activities from all content areas into the classroom /li liProvide customer service in reception, greet and direct visitors at the site /li liFollow step-by-step activities as outlined in content area plans and policies and procedures /li liParticipate in professional development, sometimes off-site,



at the request of supervisor /li liResponsible for and able to handle confidential material /li liCommunicate with parents about daily experiences if teacher is not available /li liAssist or model correct tooth brushing daily /liliAssist with family-style meals /li liAll employees are expected to adhere to OWBC ethics and expectations /li liMust be able to cooperate and work effectively with others /li liMust be diplomatic, honest and fair /li liRegular and Punctual attendance is an essential function of the position /li liPerform other duties as assigned or as they become apparent /li liPerforms other duties as assigned.
/li /ul h3Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: /h3 ul liAbility to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
/li liAbility to work effectively with others.
/li liAbility to assess the health and behaviors of children by sight and sound.

/li liAbility to ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements and policies.

/li liObtain and keep current Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications /li /ul h3Mental / Physical Tasks (F= Frequent, O=Occasional, R=Rarely): /h3 ul liF Standing- required when making copies, meeting people, moving from work area to work area /li liF Handling- reports, vehicles, laptop, key /li liF Hearing/Talking/Listening-communicate with employees and others, answer the telephone, participate in meetings, give presentations /li liF Fine Dexterity-operate computer, calculator, to write, mouse, projector tools /li liF Sitting-performing work at desk, while reading, writing, in meetings, driving, riding in vehicle to sites and meetings /li liO Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling-plug in equipment, when connecting PC components, plugging in cords, open lower desk drawers /li liF Walking-from vehicle to site, area to area, to copier /li liF Bending/Twisting – to reach files, reports, handle paper, reach drawers /li liF Grasping/Holding-holding binders, phones, tablet, work resources /li liF Balancing – standing, reaching, driving /li liF Lifting/Carrying-report binders, paper, laptop, supplies up to 45 lbs.
/li liF Vision-to drive and assist individuals in medical need /li liF Pushing/Pulling – open/close file/copier drawers, open close doors, rolltop carriers /li liF Foot Controls – driving /li liF Driving –scheduled unscheduled trips to and from meetings and sites /li liR Other /li liF Reaching-to answer phone, reach files, reports, plug in laptop /li /ul h3Working Conditions: /h3 ul liWorking in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
