Network Administrator – Rome (Hybrid) – 12-Month Contract
We are recruiting two experienced Network Administrators for a long-term project with a major international organisation based in Rome. You'll join a team of 4–5 engineers providing operational support for a complex, multi-tenant network environment, with a strong focus on security.
This is a 12-month consultancy contract with the possibility of extension based on performance. The role is hybrid, with up to 3 days per week working remotely, so you'll need to be based in or near Rome.
What you'll be doing -
Configuring and supporting Cisco infrastructure, including Nexus and Catalyst switches and routers - Administering firewalls, including Cisco Firepower and the F5 BIG-IP AFM module - Configuring and supporting F5 load balancers - Administering Cisco Meraki solutions (switching, wireless and security) - Configuring and supporting IPsec site-to-site VPN tunnels - Monitoring WAN usage and network performance, and troubleshooting issues - Providing first and second-line support, including coordination with vendors - Reviewing logs and alerts and taking corrective action - Maintaining technical documentation and configuration templates - Contributing to network security projects, reviewing vulnerability and risk reports, and implementing controls - Working with IT, business and cybersecurity teams to turn requirements into secure technical solutions, proposals and cost estimates - Automating recurring operational tasks with scripting and automation tools - Occasional on-call support on an exceptional basis
What you'll need -
At least 6 -12 years' experience in network administration - Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching and routing - Strong hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki - Proven experience with F5 load balancers - Strong experience with Cisco Firepower and F5 AFM firewalls - Solid knowledge of TCP/IP and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP - Good understanding of cloud networking, ideally AWS (VPCs, routing, security groups, connectivity) -
Knowledge of LAN, data centre and WAN technologies, including SD-WAN, DIA, MPLS, DNS, authentication services and monitoring - Good understanding of network security best practice and cybersecurity risk management - Experience working in ITIL-based environments - Proven troubleshooting experience in complex environments
Nice to have -
IPsec VPN experience - Experience with network monitoring and performance analysis tools - Experience in multi-vendor environments - Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Cisco Meraki, Cisco Security, AWS (Advanced Networking or Solutions Architect), ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Network+, CISSP, GIAC or Zero Trust
