Chair in Global Economy

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studiess at the European University Institute (EUI) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the position of Chair of Global Economy. The successful candidate will be expected to lead, shape, and implement an inspiring academic research agenda within the Global Governance Programme (GGP) to promote understanding of national and multilateral responses to the broad changes underway in the global economy.
In line with the RSCAS Strategic Plan ), the candidate’s research agenda should address major debates on the governance of cross-border economic flows and on the changing architecture of the global economy, with particular attention to Europe’s role. Relevant themes include global production networks, trade, capital mobility, labour mobility, industrial policy, and the interaction between domestic, regional, and multilateral policy regimes.

As Global Economy Chair holder, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the achievement of the goals set out in the EUI Strategy for by collaborating with the relevant departments and to contributing to their research and training activities (e.g., by contributing to seminars or providing secondary supervision for a limited number of doctoral researchers). They will also be responsible, with the support of the Global Governance Programme, for the growth and development of research on the ‘Global Economy’, including through the mobilisation of external funding and the mentoring of early-stage researchers.
