BUSINESS DEVELOPER (DATA CENTER / EUROPE)
Coelmo S.p.A. is a leading company in the design, manufacturing and distribution of Industrial and Marine Generator Sets and Cogeneration Systems, founded in 1946.
The company operates across Italy, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
We are looking for a Business Developer to join our Sales team and support the development of Data Center business opportunities across the European market, while strengthening Coelmo’s presence in a strategic and rapidly evolving sector.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing commercial relationships with the key players across the European Data Center ecosystem, promoting Coelmo’s power generation solutions and emergency power systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scouting and business development activities across the European Data Center market, identifying new opportunities, projects and potential customers.
- Identify and develop relationships with all key stakeholders involved in the development and delivery of Data Center infrastructure, including end clients, engineering and design firms, contractors and other relevant industry players.
- Monitor major Data Center projects across Europe at the planning, design and construction stages, identifying potential commercial opportunities for the integration of Coelmo solutions at an early stage.
- Proactively develop new contacts and business opportunities, ensuring the achievement of assigned targets in terms of revenue, sales pipeline and new qualified contacts.
- Manage the entire sales cycle, from opportunity qualification through proposal preparation,
negotiation and order acquisition, working closely with internal technical teams.
- Collaborate with the Technical Department and other company functions in reviewing specifications, technical documentation, tenders and requests for quotation related to Data Center projects.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with customers, partners, consultants and key decision-makers within the industry.
- Identify new strategic partners.
- Monitor competitors, technology trends, investments and market dynamics across the European Data Center sector, identifying new opportunities for market positioning and business development.
- Ensure the company CRM is consistently updated with contacts, opportunities, quotations, projects and ongoing negotiations, maintaining a structured and accurate sales pipeline.
- Prepare periodic reports on business development activities, commercial opportunities, pipeline status and performance across the different European markets.
- Plan and undertake frequent business travel across Europe to meet customers, EPC contractors, partners and other industry stakeholders, as well as to attend trade fairs, conferences and events dedicated to the Data Center market.
- Work with a dynamic, proactive and strongly results-oriented approach, independently managing priorities and business development activities.
Key Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Business, Engineering, Technical Studies or a related field.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in Business Development, Sales or Key Account Management within a B2B environment, preferably in the Data Center, power generation, energy or related sectors.
- Knowledge of the European Data Center ecosystem and its key market players.
- Proven ability to develop complex commercial opportunities involving medium- to long-term sales cycles and multiple technical and decision-making stakeholders.
- Ability to understand technical specifications, tender documentation and documentation relating to infrastructure projects.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of a second European language would be considered an advantage.
- Strong commercial, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Strong focus on new customer acquisition and the development of long-term commercial relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with corporate CRM systems.
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate effectively with commercial, technical and operational functions.
- Willingness to undertake frequent international travel across Europe.
- Strong results orientation, autonomy, organisational skills and an entrepreneurial approach to market development.
