# JOB DESCRIPTION
Isotta Fraschini Motori, part of the Fincantieri Group, is an Italian excellence in the design of generation and propulsion systems for advanced marine and industrial applications. The company is committed to developing integrated and sustainable energy solutions, with a strong focus on digital innovation, hybrid systems, and low-emission technologies.
The resource will be responsible for the development, integration, and validation of IFM Fuel Cell systems, with a particular focus on control architectures, operational logic, and auxiliary Balance of Plant (BoP) subsystems. Operating at the interface between system engineering, electrical design, software development, and testing, the figure will contribute to the realization of complex, reliable, and safe energy architectures.
# ACTIVITIES
The main activities will be:
- **Control Logic Development:** Design and validation of algorithms and operational strategies for Fuel Cells and BoP auxiliaries (startup/shutdown, purge, thermal management, water management, power management, and fault handling).
- **BoP Subsystem Integration:** Functional and electromechanical integration of process components (valves, regulators, compressors, blowers, pumps) and definition of requirements for sensors and actuators.
- **Interfacing & Automation:** Development of communication interfaces for energy management systems (EMS/PMS), ship automation, and digital monitoring platforms.
- **Testing, Commissioning & Lifecycle:** Support for testing and commissioning activities in the laboratory and on board ships; technical troubleshooting and collaboration with R&D; and Product Engineering for product evolution.
# REQUIREMENTS
The requirements are:
- **Education:** Master's Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
- **Technical Skills:** Solid knowledge of automatic control principles, system dynamics, and fault management; ability to read P&ID; diagrams, electrical diagrams, and system architectures.
- **Components & Protocols:** Knowledge of process components (valves, pumps, actuators) and main industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN Bus, OPC-UA).
- **Languages:** Good knowledge of English (operational use in international technical contexts).
- **Soft Skills:** Structured problem-solving, proactivity, propensity for continuous learning, and aptitude for working in multidisciplinary groups.
**Nice to have:**
- **Domain Expertise:** Previous experience with Fuel Cell systems, hydrogen technologies, or Marine, Defense, Power Generation, or Oil & Gas contexts.
- **Modeling & Simulation:** Use of Matlab/Simulink or other dynamic modeling and simulation environments.
- **EMS & Automation:** Application experience with EMS systems and advanced industrial process control.
- **Functional Safety & Risk Analysis:** Knowledge of FMEA/HAZOP methodologies and Functional Safety standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 62061, ISO 13849).
**Compensation & Agevolazioni Package**
- For the position in question, the gross annual salary will be between €33,000 and €44,000.
