About Cap4 Lab and IMS
Cap4 Lab is an international consulting and technology company specialised in API and integration strategies, with locations in Luxembourg, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Costa Rica, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Our Integration Management Support (IMS) practice runs the application-level operations (L0–L3) of enterprise integration landscapes for our managed-services customers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We support a wide range of technologies with a focus on integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Apache Camel, Talend and IBM App Connect, together with the messaging, API, container and cloud platforms around them and selected business SaaS. Our support model is technology-agnostic and ITIL-based, and our customers rely on contractual SLAs that our team is measured against every month.
Our L1 and L2 engineers form one team working towards the same goal: keeping our customers' integration landscapes running. The separation between the two levels is organisational, not physical – L2 engineers step into L1 operations whenever the situation requires it, and L1 engineers grow into L2 work as their skills develop. Our L3 team closes the loop: when an incident needs a change in the code, L3 delivers it.
The role
As Support Integration Developer (L3) you are the engineer who fixes what L2 has diagnosed. You deliver the Corrective Maintenance add-on of our IMS service: bug fixes and hotfixes in the customers' integration code, root-cause analysis down to the code level, and problem management coordination with the customers' development and architecture teams.
This is a developer role embedded in an operations team. You write production code under incident pressure, within the scope agreed with each customer: corrective changes first, and small evolutive changes where they fall within the supported scope; larger enhancements and redesigns are handled as separate engagements. You work mainly in business hours, with on-call duty (passive and, where required, active) for critical incidents.
Your responsibilities
- Take over L2 escalations that require a code change: reproduce the defect, implement the fix, test it and deliver it through the customer's pipeline within the target-resolution times.
- Develop targeted hotfixes that remediate a defect without a full application regression cycle, where technically feasible.
- Implement small evolutive changes within the supported scope when agreed with the customer.
- Perform code-level root-cause analysis and document findings, workarounds and permanent fixes.
- Coordinate problem management with the customers' development, architecture and vendor teams; propose preventive measures to L2 and L1.
- Keep every change traceable: ticket, branch, merge request, release note and updated runbook.
- Review code changes delivered by customer or third-party teams for operational impact before they reach production, when requested.
- Share knowledge with L2 (code walkthroughs, debugging sessions) so more incidents are resolved before they reach L3.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for P1 incidents: passive on-call (reachable, with an agreed response time) as the standard model, and active on-call (rostered shifts) where a customer plan requires it.
What you bring
- Several years of hands-on development experience in enterprise integration, with at least one integration platform in depth (MuleSoft, Apache Camel with Spring Boot or Quarkus, Talend, IBM App Connect or similar) and the ability to learn the others quickly.
- Strong Java knowledge: debugging, unit and integration testing, dependency and version management, reading and analysing thread and heap dumps.
- Experience with REST/SOAP APIs and API specifications (OpenAPI/RAML), messaging (RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar), relational databases and SQL.
- Working knowledge of Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, containers and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem and change management) and of working in an SLA-governed support or managed-services environment.
- Comfort with working inside an existing code base you did not write: understanding it quickly,
changing it minimally and safely.
- Ability to prioritise, stay calm and communicate clearly under incident pressure, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills; a 'can do' attitude.
- Good written and spoken English (B2 minimum); further languages are welcome.
Nice to have
- Security awareness: experience with dependency scanning and patching of open-source frameworks.
- ITIL certification.
- Public cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP, Alibaba) and observability tooling.
- Vendor or platform certifications in any of the technologies above.
Working model
- Hybrid: on-site presence at a Cap4 Lab office is required, with remote work possible on the other days; we prefer a few days per week in the office.
- Business hours as the standard working time, plus on-call duty: passive on-call by default, active on-call where required by the customer plan. On-call is scheduled in advance and paid separately, on top of the base salary.
What we offer
- A structured career path with continuous development, training and relevant certifications.
- A multicultural, international team (13+ nationalities) working on projects across several industries.
- Flat hierarchies, short communication channels and an open-door policy.
- Competitive compensation.
- A collegial, respectful working environment with regular joint company events (workshops, company parties).
We value diversity and welcome applications from everyone, regardless of gender, origin, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation.
