Why Join Our Rail & Bridges Team?

This is an opportunity to take a leading technical role within a specialist Rail & Bridges team, working on a wide variety of rail, bridges and civil infrastructure projects across the UK.

You will lead the development and delivery of structural engineering solutions across a range of challenging projects, supporting schemes from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical delivery, contribute to project leadership and support the development of less experienced engineers.

Working alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions while collaborating with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams. You will have the opportunity to influence technical decisions, contribute to project success and support the continued growth and development of the Rail & Bridges team.

We are committed to supporting professional development through technical training, professional membership and continued progression towards technical and leadership responsibilities.

Position

As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will:

· Take technical responsibility for the delivery of structural design solutions across a range of rail, bridge and infrastructure projects.

· Lead and contribute to the preparation of structural calculations, detailed designs, drawings, specifications and technical reports.

· Apply sound engineering judgement to develop practical, cost-effective and technically robust design solutions.

· Work independently on technically challenging projects while providing technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers.

· Undertake design reviews and checking activities to ensure technical quality, compliance and accuracy.

· Coordinate structural design activities with other disciplines, including civil, geotechnical,

environmental and project management teams.

· Liaise directly with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders, providing technical advice and contributing to project discussions and meetings.

· Support Technical Leads with the planning, delivery and management of structural engineering commissions.

· Identify technical risks, design constraints and opportunities and contribute to the development of appropriate engineering solutions.

· Support the preparation of fee proposals, scopes of work and technical submissions where required.

· Maintain awareness of project budgets, programmes and deliverables to support successful project delivery.

· Monitor processes and outputs to ensure compliance with relevant safety, legal, ethical and regulatory requirements.

· Contribute to continuous improvement within the Rail & Bridges team and support the development of engineering standards and best practice.

· Manage projects in compliance with Ayesa Engineering's Integrated Management System (IMS).

· Represent and promote Ayesa in a professional manner and develop effective working relationships with clients and potential clients.

Requirements

· Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.

· Typically 5-8+ years' experience in structural design engineering.

· Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), or actively working towards Chartership.

· Demonstrable experience delivering structural design projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.

· Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating structural design with other technical disciplines.

· Strong experience in delivering structural engineering solutions, calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports for complex engineering projects.

· Strong understanding of structural behaviour and the application of engineering principles to complex design challenges.

· Detailed knowledge and practical application of current British Standards, Eurocodes and other relevant design standards.

· Experience in the design and assessment of bridges, rail infrastructure and other civil engineering structures.

· Experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete, steel and other structural materials.

· Ability to independently develop technically robust and commercially viable engineering solutions.

· Experience reviewing and checking structural calculations, drawings and technical documentation.

· Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and project stakeholders and build positive working relationships.

· Experience supporting, mentoring and developing graduate and junior engineers.

· Good understanding of project delivery, programme, budget and commercial considerations.

· Commitment to Continued Professional Development and ongoing technical development.

You do not need to have experience in every area listed above.
