Our ideal contractor combines strong design instincts with the technical skills to build, improve and troubleshoot websites independently.We’re particularly interested in someone who understands that a website is a communications tool. You should be able to understand the goal behind a project, recommend a practical solution and execute it without assuming every challenge requires a complete website redesign.This is a project-based contractor role with no guaranteed minimum number of hours.Responsibilities:Design and develop landing pages, campaign pages, microsites and other digital contentBuild, update and troubleshoot WordPress websitesImprove website navigation, information architecture and user experienceCreate or redesign newsrooms, resource centers, blogs and other content-heavy website sectionsImplement website recommendations related to communications, content and SEOAddress broken links,
redirects and other technical website issuesImprove page layouts and mobile responsivenessBuild and improve forms and integrationsSupport website migrations and redesignsApply accessibility and usability best practicesSupport analytics, tracking and basic technical SEOAssist with website maintenance, plugin management, backups and related technical needsCollaborate with AFM and other communications, content, SEO and design partners as appropriateRecommend efficient, practical solutions based on each client’s needs and budgetQualifications:Required Qualifications:Demonstrated professional web design and development experienceStrong WordPress experiencePortfolio demonstrating both design and development capabilitiesWorking knowledge of HTML and CSS and ability to troubleshoot common website issuesUnderstanding of responsive design, accessibility and UX best practicesFamiliarity with technical and on-page SEOExperience with website analytics and xysqume trackingAbility to accurately scope projects and communicate anticipated costs and timelinesStrong communication and project management skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with health care organizations, nonprofits, associations, public affairs organizations or professional services firmsExperience with content-heavy websitesFamiliarity with email marketing, CRM and other common website integrationsCompensation:Project-based independent contractor work; volume will vary based on client needsCompensation $75-$100 per hour, based on agreed-upon hourly rates or project feesRemote workOpportunity to work on meaningful communications and digital projects#J-18808-Ljbffr
