Company Description The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) is the central government body responsible for Italy’s economic policy, financial policy, budgeting, and tax policies. It coordinates and oversees public spending, plans public investments, and manages public financial operations, including public debt and State shareholdings. The MEF prepares revenue and financial accounts for public administrations, monitors spending and revenue trends, and assesses the economic and financial impact of laws and policies.
It operates within the framework of European Union stability and convergence criteria and is organized into four key departments: the Department of the Treasury, the State General Accounting Department, the Department of Finance, and the Department of General Administration, Personnel, and Services.
Role Description The Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in Rome at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The Manager will oversee projects and teams related to economic, financial, or administrative initiatives, ensuring alignment with national policy objectives and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating cross-departmental activities, monitoring project progress, preparing reports and briefings, and supporting strategic planning and decision-making.
The Manager will also contribute to process improvement, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication,
while promoting effective collaboration among internal and external partners.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in economic and financial analysis, budgeting, and public finance management.
- Experience in project management, planning, and coordination of complex initiatives.
- Proficiency in policy analysis, regulatory interpretation, and preparation of official documents or reports.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across departments.
- Proven leadership abilities, including team supervision, performance management, and mentoring.
- Advanced proficiency in office productivity tools and data analysis software; familiarity with public sector information systems is an asset.
- Relevant university degree in economics, finance, public administration, law, or a related field; a postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Professional experience in government, public administration, or a similar institutional environment is highly beneficial.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to public service, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively on-site in Rome and in a multilingual, international context; strong Italian language skills and good English proficiency are preferred.
