The Nurse Extern at MUHA performs routine nursing duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, caring for hospitalized patients. The role may be cross-trained to serve as a Unit Secretary depending on unit needs. Education requirements include the first semester of an ADN or BSN program, with enrollment ongoing and up to 12 months to pass NCLEX after graduation.

AHA BLS certification is required. This PRN, hourly position supports patient care teams in a busy hospital environment.
