Overview
As part of ABB's Smart Power initiatives, you will design and deliver firmware for industrial protection devices, contributing to innovative software and system development. You'll work within an R&D; team, collaborating with architects and cross-functional colleagues to translate requirements into robust firmware. Responsabilità
- Design, develop, and implement firmware for industrial protection circuit breakers and communication modules
- Improve firmware development and cybersecurity processes
- Perform unit, integration, and system testing to ensure quality
- Contribute to innovation and support patent-related activities
- Participate in an Agile Scrum team (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives)
- Collaborate with system architects and hardware/software developers to derive requirement specifications
- Break down system requirements into firmware specifications
Requisiti fondamentali
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Information or Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, or comparable field
- Embedded C/C++ proficiency plus software engineering fundamentals
- Experience with Python for scripting and test automation
- 3–5 years of firmware development for embedded industrial applications
- Knowledge of embedded systems, MCUs, peripherals, interfaces, and RTOS preferred
- Firmware debugging and root-cause analysis using probes, scopes, logic analyzers
- Familiarity with structured development processes from analysis to documentation
- Experience with industrial protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, IEC61850, Profibus, CAN bus) is a plus
- Knowledge of embedded cybersecurity principles; secure development practices is a plus
- Experience in Agile Scrum and a collaborative mindset; willingness to travel; English and Italian communication
