About the team Mongo DB Technical Services Engineers will combine exceptional problem solving and communication skills with deep technical experience to advise customers and solve complex Mongo DB problems. They are experts in components of the Mongo DB ecosystem - database server, drivers, our management suite, and services such as Cloud Manager (the online product we developed for customers for automation, backup, monitoring, and analysis of their Mongo DB systems), and Mongo DB Atlas.
They combine their Mongo DB expertise with passion, initiative, teamwork and a great sense of humor to achieve exceptional results for our customers. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Milan for our hybrid working model. Cool things you'll do Mongo DB is on a mission to change the way people think about databases. In Technical
Services, it's our job to help these people.
You'll be working alongside our largest customers, solving their complex challenges - resolving questions on architecture, performance, recovery, security, and everything in between. You'll be an expert resource on best practices in running Mongo DB at scale, whatever that scale may be. You'll be an advocate for customers' needs - interfacing with our product management and development teams on their behalf.
And you'll contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics. In this specific role, starting from the Mongo DB database,
you will also focus on the performance of our Cloud platform Atlas and its supported services. You will help both frontend and backend developers build next generation applications on Mongo DB platform.
Finally, Mongo DB Technical Services puts a strong focus on engineers enabling their peers to be successful by sharing newly gained technical knowledge with the team, either via informal one-to-one conversations, or training and workshop sessions. By documenting solutions in our knowledge base system, Technical Services Engineers will increase the efficiency of our customers, other team members and departments throughout Mongo DB. What you need We are looking for curious, and multi-faceted teammates who are driven to serve our customers.
The ideal candidate should have a mix of experience in most of the following areas. We are open to training people up in certain areas, so don't worry about ticking every box! 3–4 years of experience in a technical support, solutions support, or customer-facing engineering role Distributed systems, Database architecture and administration, Application architecture,
Data architecture Experience supporting complex mission-critical product applications and database systems (RDMBS or No SQL or both) Supporting Cloud and/or Enterprise grade applications Strong diagnostics and troubleshooting experience, with the ability to analyze issues holistically, from the application tier, to database to storage Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability Systems administration experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting Ability to read code, and basic coding/scripting ability in one or more languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Javascript, node.js, Go, etc Good understanding of Networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, etc.) Storage engineering experience, including NAS, RAID, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, and caching Working with real time stream processing using Kafka.
Serverless computing services such as AWS Lambda, Azure functions.
