Candidates must be based in Italy as we are unable to support remote working from outside the country due to local employment and tax legislation. /p pThis role leads the team that runs Deltatre's data services: large-scale data processing, onboarding and offboarding of tenant data, and the content recommendations behind our customers' products. /p pAs Senior Engineering Manager, Data Services, you'll set direction and review designs rather than write code day to day. This is a technical leadership role: you'll lead a distributed team, and be the senior technical escalation point for customers on how their data is handled. /p bDelivery and team leadership /b ulliLead a mixed team of permanent analysts and contract engineers across three regions to predictable, high-quality delivery /liliBuild strong asynchronous working practices across the distributed team /li /ul bData platform and recommendations /b ulliSet technical direction and run design review for the Java/AWS estate (S3, EMR, Kinesis) /liliOwn SLOs for data freshness and pipeline reliability /liliOwn incident response and cloud cost /liliOwn the pipelines and services behind content recommendations, and how their quality is measured /li /ul bTenant data and governance /b ulliOwn a repeatable, auditable onboarding and offboarding process for tenant data, including verified deletion when a tenant leaves /liliWork with the Cyber Security team on controlled, audited access to tenant data,
including cross-region access /liliEnsure compliance with GDPR and other privacy regulations /li /ul bProduct and customer partnership /b ulliPartner with Product on the roadmap /liliAct as the technical escalation point for customers, working with account managers and solutions engineersbr/ /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 pThis is the experience that will help you hit the ground running. /p bRequired /b ulli10+ years in software or data engineering /lili4-5 years leading engineering teams /liliTrack record leading distributed teams across time zones, including contractors or a delivery partner /liliDeep Java/JVM experience, enough to review designs and challenge approaches /liliDeep AWS data services experience, enough to spot cost or reliability problems /liliPractical experience with data privacy and access control /liliPractical experience with regulatory compliance, including GDPR and other privacy regulations /liliConfidence explaining technical decisions to customers and senior stakeholders /liliExperience with recommendation systems /liliExperience with multi-tenant SaaS data platforms /liliBackground in media, streaming, or sports technology /li /ul bWho Thrives Here /b pThis role sits where engineering depth meets customer trust. Customers want to know exactly how their data is handled, and you're the person who can answer in plain terms and back it with an audit trail. It suits someone who stays technical enough to challenge a design or spot a cost or reliability problem without writing the code, and who leads a team spread across three regions, mixing permanent staff and contractors,
without everyone being online at the same time. /p pPeople who do well here make working agreements explicit, so a team across time zones delivers predictably in writing rather than only in meetings. They treat privacy, access control, and verified deletion as engineering requirements rather than checkboxes, and they explain a technical decision to a customer or senior stakeholder in terms they can act on. /p bProcess and what to expect /b pSalary starts from €30,000 at entry level rising to €90,000 for those with significant relevant experience.
