Position Overview
The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in ensuring the hotel, technical infrastructure, equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, efficiency and presentation. During pre-opening, the role supports commissioning, technical handover and the establishment of Engineering procedures. Once operational, the position combines technical expertise with hands-on leadership to protect the hotel asset and ensure a seamless luxury guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Operations
• Support the daily management of the Engineering department and act as departmental leader in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
• Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all technical systems, equipment and facilities.
• Conduct regular property inspections, prioritize maintenance requirements and ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Respond promptly to technical issues affecting guest comfort or hotel operations.
Pre-Opening & Technical Handover
• Support commissioning, inspections and technical handover of guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas and hotel systems.
• Identify and follow up on defects, outstanding works and technical issues with contractors and project teams.
• Assist in establishing preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventories, technical documentation and Engineering procedures.
Preventive Maintenance & Asset Protection
• Ensure preventive maintenance programs
