Overview

In this role you contribute to ABB’s Smart Power through firmware, software, and system development. You’ll tackle innovative solutions in a cross-functional R&D; context, both independently and within a Scrum team. You’ll work on firmware for industrial protection devices and collaborate with global engineers to shape reliable, secure deployments. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to influence IP creation and technological innovation. Hybrid work and international projects add variety and impact.

Responsabilità

- Design, develop, and implement firmware for industrial protection circuit breakers and communication modules
- Improve firmware development and cyber security processes
- Perform unit, integration, and system testing to ensure quality
- Support innovation and patent-related activities
- Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies to enable continuous delivery




- Collaborate with system architects and hardware/software developers to translate system requirements into firmware specifications
- Share knowledge and mentor other engineers to elevate development practices

Requisiti fondamentali

- M. Sc. or B. Sc. in Information or Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, or comparable field
- Strong embedded C/C++ skills
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and test automation
- 8–10+ years of firmware development for embedded industrial applications
- Solid understanding of embedded systems, RTOS, microcontroller architectures
- Experience with debugging tools (debug probes, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Familiar with Azure Dev Ops, CI/CD, and Git
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, IEC61850, Profibus, CAN bus)
- Understanding of embedded cybersecurity principles; secure development practices a plus
- Agile/Scrum experience and collaborative mindset
- English and Italian communication; willingness to travel
