IndustrialB Product Management Specialist

Megatron Sensors

Mission:

Support the development, commercialisation and lifecycle management of Megatron’s product portfolio by ensuring accurate technical design, reliable product costing and quotations, and effective product information management. Work with Sales, Quality, Purchasing and Production to translate customer requirements into technically feasible, commercially viable and manufacturable products. Contribute to building Megatron’s Product Management function by improving product data, tools and processes and progressively developing broader product management capabilities.

Summary:

This is a hands-on, cross-functional specialist role combining technical product design, technical quotations and costing, and Product Operations. The successful candidate will maintain the technical and commercial information needed to configure, quote, manufacture and support products, while helping standardise and automate workflows. The role does not initially own product strategy, pricing policy or portfolio decisions; these remain with designated management until the Product Management function is established.

Responsibilities:

Technical Product Design

- Create, update and review 3D models, 2D technical drawings, assembly drawings and production documentation against customer and internal requirements.
- Develop and maintain standardised production drawings, production sheets and technical documentation so that Production and Purchasing have the information required to manufacture and procure components accurately.
- Check consistency between drawings, components, assemblies and bills of materials (Di.Ba./BOMs); define or propose suitable tolerances in light of materials, processes, feasibility and cost.
- Support product feasibility, prototyping, qualification and validation activities in collaboration with Engineering, Production, Quality and suppliers.
- Maintain drawing revisions, change requests, numbering conventions and controlled technical archives; support supplier technical discussions and manufacturability improvements.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Quality and suppliers to resolve technical clarifications, assess manufacturability, validate material specifications and address issues affecting quality, cost or delivery.

Technical Quotations & Costing

- Coordinate the end-to-end technical quotation workflow, from intake and clarification of customer requirements through feasibility, configuration, costing and technical review to timely handover for commercial approval and submission. Maintain status, priorities and agreed turnaround times, and communicate proactively with Sales about progress, exceptions and delays.
- Classify and track quotation requests by complexity,

document outstanding information and technical deviations from customer requirements, and ensure deviations are reviewed and communicated before commercial approval.
- Maintain the Pricing Tool and support quotations for high-impact opportunities, including multi-year or high-value business, using agreed approval and pricing rules.
- Keep product unit costs, materials and process assumptions up to date; calculate and check contribution margins and escalate discrepancies or margin risks.
- Support product family definitions, material cataloguing and consistent coding to accelerate accurate quotations.
- Record quotation outcomes and analyse turnaround time, conversion and recurring causes of rework; coordinate corrective actions and propose practical workflow improvements and automation.

Product Operations & Data Integrity

- Maintain complete and consistent product master data, descriptions, supplier-to-Megatron code mappings, technical specifications and BOMs in SAP Business One and related tools.
- Check that quoted and invoiced products have the necessary product records and BOMs; coordinate corrections with the responsible teams.
- Organise and maintain accessible, version-controlled product files and NAS/Product Management folders, including drawings, production sheets and data sheets.
- Support the definition, documentation and consistent application of product classification and coding rules for purchased materials and finished products, including product families and raw-material classifications, to improve quotation efficiency and traceability.
- Act as a key user for assigned product-data and quotation processes; support ERP improvements, database-led reporting and agreed Megatron roadmap projects. Document and improve procedures for product data, BOM changes, technical documentation and quotation workflows, identifying opportunities for standardisation and automation.
- Support simple KPI reporting on data completeness, quotation performance, cost accuracy and workflow improvements.

Product Management Development

- Contribute technical and cost information to product reviews, lifecycle decisions, product validation and improvement initiatives.
- Gather and structure feedback from Sales, customers,

Production and suppliers to identify product and process improvement opportunities.
- Build knowledge of product performance, portfolio analysis and product management practices, with scope to take on broader responsibilities as the function develops.

Requirements:

Hard Skills

- Degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Physics, industrial design or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Practical experience producing and maintaining technical drawings and 3D CAD models; sound understanding of assemblies, tolerances and drawing revision control.
- Knowledge of metal and plastic materials and manufacturing processes, including their effects on feasibility, precision, lead time and cost.
- Ability to interpret technical customer requirements, BOMs, product specifications and cost information; comfortable with numerical analysis and quotation workflows.
- Strong Microsoft Excel capability, including lookups, pivot tables, data validation and structured cost calculations (to be assessed).
- Strong preference for hands-on Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault experience, including model/drawing management and revision control (to be assessed).
- Strong preference for SAP Business One experience, particularly product master data, BOMs and related operational records (to be assessed).
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, technical quotations, product engineering or product operations; exposure to industrial sensors, instrumentation or components is advantageous.
- Fluent Italian and working English sufficient to read technical documentation and communicate with international colleagues and suppliers.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience is a useful guide, but demonstrated capability and transferable experience matter more than a fixed threshold.

Soft Skills

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate, traceable technical and commercial information.
- Pragmatic problem-solving, sound judgement and willingness to escalate technical or pricing uncertainties.
- Ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple technical and commercial requests, communicate proactively with stakeholders and deliver accurate outputs within agreed deadlines.
- Collaborative communication with Sales, Quality, Production, Purchasing and external suppliers.
- Ownership, initiative and a continuous-improvement mindset; comfortable learning new tools and simplifying processes.
- Customer awareness and curiosity about the commercial implications of technical decisions.
- Interest in developing broader Product Management skills over time, without requiring previous Product Manager experience.
