EIC (Experience Internship Canada)is looking for motivated candidates to join its teams as aData Science & AI Intern.
You will contribute to data science and artificial intelligence projects applied to EIC activities.
You will explore classification, extraction and decision-support methods while measuring their practical usefulness.
This internship is based in Rome, Italy.
You will work in an international professional environment that values collaboration, initiative and learning through practical work.
A supervisor will help you understand priorities and take on responsibilities as your skills develop.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Scoping: translate a business problem into a measurable objective and define an evaluation dataset.
Data preparation: clean authorized datasets and document their origins.
Exploration: investigate distributions, biases and features relevant to modeling.
Modeling: develop prototypes and compare them with a simple baseline.
Generative AI: experiment with extraction or document-search solutions using approved data.
Evaluation: measure accuracy, error patterns and the cost of different approaches.
Integration: work with developers to make prototypes usable by the teams.
Reporting: present results, limitations and potential improvements.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
You are studying data science, AI, applied mathematics or computer science.
You have a foundation in Python, statistics and machine learning.




You understand evaluation principles and the risks of data leakage.
You enjoy methodical experimentation and documenting results transparently.
You are comfortable communicating in English.
French is an asset for collaboration with French-speaking colleagues and audiences.
You can work collaboratively, seek feedback and suggest practical improvements.
