Human Technopole
Build the science that shapes the future of human health.Postdoc Doc in Health Data Science | Human Technopole, MilanApplication closing date: **********Join a place where ambitious science thrives.
Human Technopole (Milan) is a rapidly expanding life science institute where international researchers and cutting?edge technologies converge to accelerate biomedical discovery.
Our mission is to transform bold scientific ideas into advances that improve human health.Within this mission, the Data Science and Genetic Epidemiology Lab () develops next?generation AI methods to integrate population?scale healthcare data with human genetics.
The team comprises data scientists, biologists, and medical doctors, and is based across two locations: the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (University of Helsinki) and Ganna Group – Human Technopole.
The lab has a strong track record of high?impact publications.Your missionWe are seeking an ambitious postdoctoral researcher to help build and deploy population?scale foundation models for electronic health records.Using real?world patient data from Finland (7 million individuals), Lombardy (10 million), and France (16 million), you will develop AI systems to model disease trajectories, predict healthcare outcomes, and estimate healthcare costs.
You will integrate multimodal data, including genetics and -omics, to improve model interpretability and enable causal and counterfactual "what-if" analyses.Your work will sit at the intersection of deep learning, genetic epidemiology, and public health, with opportunities to lead methodological developments and drive high?impact applications,
including potential commercial spin?offs. What Makes This Role ExceptionalYou will have access to world?unique resources: complete longitudinal health records covering more than 5 billion medical events, FinnGen with genetics on over ******* individuals, and multi?omics profiling (proteomics, single?cell RNA sequencing) across thousands of participants. To support the development of skills in AI and machine learning, you will be embedded in HT's Scientific AI flagship on Multimodal AI Across Scales, with access to cross?disciplinary AI expertise, and collaborate closely with the ELLIS Institute Finland, a leading machine learning institute in Europe.
Exchange periods with international partners (e.G. Broad Institute, EMBL?EBI) are actively encouraged.
Human Technopole supports career development through structured training, mentoring, and dedicated learning opportunities.Grow Your SkillsDeveloping and training clinically grounded foundation models on multimodal, population?scale health dataIntegrating electronic health records with genetic and omics dataEvaluating models for prediction, interpretability, and generalizabilityPublishing in leading journals and contributing to international collaborationsEssentialWhat you'll bringPhD in machine learning, computational biology, statistical genetics, biostatistics,
or a related quantitative fieldStrong publication record in leading biomedical journals or machine learning conferences.
Ideally, your work has focused on methodological development or analysis applied to EHR or -omics data (e.G. biobanks)Proficiency in Python and experience with HPC or cloud computing environments.PreferredExperience with large?scale health data and biobanks (e.G. UK biobank, All of US)Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.G. PyTorch, TensorFlow)Proven contributions to international consortia or collaborative projects in machine learning or human geneticsOrganizational and social skillsAbility to work accurately, with attention to detailSelf?motivated, able to work independently and organize own workloadExcellent communication skillsEnthusiastic team player and able to work collaboratively and across different disciplines. Why Human TechnopoleHT offers an international and dynamic workplace, competitive welfare provisions, flexible working policies and relocation support.
Researchers moving to Italy may vantaggi from attractive tax benefits.
We promote work?life balance and provide parental support initiatives. At HT, your discoveries contribute to a global effort to improve human health.SubmitHow to applyCVMotivation letterContact details of two refereesThis is a 4?year contract offered under CCNL Chimico Farmaceutico, Level B2Salary range: €40 – €43k, based on the candidate's seniority. The position is based in Milan, Italy, within our vibrant international campus. We strongly encourage applications from candidates belonging to protected categories (L. *****).
