Emerson
If you are a Senior AI Engineer looking for an opportunity to lead the delivery of production AI solutions, enable others, and advance the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you.
Based in Bologna, you will partner across Emerson's global Pressure Management organization to turn complex business needs into secure, reliable, and scalable AI capabilities.
This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role spanning AI engineering, employee enablement, and the application of established AI governance. You will independently own complex and ambiguous AI initiatives from discovery through production support, make and communicate significant technical design decisions, and provide technical leadership through expertise, coaching, peer review, and influence rather than people management.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Lead the design, architecture, development, deployment, support, and continuous improvement of complex production AI solutions, including generative AI, agentic AI, and selected machine-learning or data-science applications.
Translate complex or ambiguous business opportunities into solution architectures, delivery approaches, and production capabilities, using advanced judgment when information or precedent is limited.
Own significant architecture and design decisions for assigned initiatives, evaluate technical alternatives and risks, and develop secure APIs, workflows, applications, integrations, and reusable components using approved enterprise capabilities.
Advance engineering and DevOps practices across PRM AI solutions by developing reusable patterns, improving technical standards, leading critical peer reviews,
and strengthening testing, deployment, documentation, monitoring, and operational support.
Enable employees to use approved AI capabilities effectively and responsibly through training, demonstrations, prompt and use-case coaching, reusable guidance, and hands-on support across the global PRM organization.
Assess technical, operational, and responsible-AI risks; operationalize established Emerson and PRM governance requirements; and guide teams through architecture, privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, testing, documentation, review, and production-readiness decisions.
Influence global business and technical stakeholders, coach other engineers, review complex work, and promote reusable practices that raise AI engineering quality and accelerate responsible delivery across PRM.
Who You Are:
You analyze multiple and diverse sources of information to define complex problems accurately before moving to solutions. You make sound decisions, even when information is incomplete or precedent is limited. You relate comfortably with people across levels, functions, cultures, and geographies, adapting your communication to build alignment. You seek new approaches, share expertise, and support the development of others while maintaining accountability for high-quality results.
For This Role,
You Will Need:
Demonstrated experience independently leading the design, architecture, delivery, and production support of complex AI, machine-learning, or AI-enabled software solutions.
Strong software-engineering capability in a modern programming language, with experience designing secure APIs and integrations and applying source control, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment controls, and production observability.
Hands-on experience developing generative and agentic AI solutions using patterns such as grounding and retrieval, structured outputs, tool or function use, workflow orchestration, evaluation, safety controls, and human oversight.
Experience making significant solution-architecture and technical-risk decisions across enterprise cloud or AI platforms, business applications, data sources, and workflows.
Experience operationalizing security, privacy, responsible-AI, documentation, quality, governance, and monitoring requirements throughout the solution lifecycle.
Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical approaches, explain complex decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, and influence delivery across a global organization.
Experience providing technical guidance through peer review, coaching, reusable engineering practices, or cross-functional collaboration while remaining accountable for hands-on delivery.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
Experience with Microsoft Azure AI services or Microsoft Foundry, Copilot Studio, and the Microsoft Power Platform.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot or other approved development as
