Nivara
About Nivara Nivara is a B2B Generative AI scale-up pioneering at the intersection of Privacy and Artificial Intelligence. We specialize in Local Artificial General Intelligence (LAGI®) models, delivering privacy-first AI solutions that tackle some of today's most pressing challenges. With a focus on innovation, security, and trust, we are building a safer, brighter future — and we seek visionaries ready to shape it with us. Our Mission Our mission is to lead in tailored AI solutions that empower organizations to control their data and operate autonomously. By embedding Human Factors Engineering and Ethical AI into every solution, we deliver intuitive, compliant, and ethically aligned technology. Focused on the B2B sector, we are committed to expanding our presence across diverse market verticals with specialized offerings.
About the Role
As a Platform and DevOps Engineer at Nivara, you will build and run the environments our privacy-first AI products live in: in the cloud, on rented hardware, and on the premises of Italian client organisations whose data cannot leave the building. You will take each platform from first deployment through go-live and remain accountable for it afterwards, from single sign-on and TLS to backups you have restored yourself, monitoring, logging, and access. Because much of our work serves clients whose data must stay on their own hardware, you will install and operate on client sites in person and move workloads between cloud and on-premise as data rules require. You will work closely with the backend engineers so that what goes live is operable, observable, and reproducible from code. Travel to client sites in Italy for installs and hardware troubleshooting are part of the role. Between engagements, the role is based in Turin under a hybrid arrangement of three on-site days and two remote days; until the Turin office opens, on-site days are suspended and the role is fully remote. What Success Looks Like
• Staging and production environments that are reproducible from code, with every go-live item verified before the first client user signs in.
• Backups that have been restored under drill, monitoring that catches problems before the client does, and access controls that pass a security review.
• Client-site installations that keep running after you leave: upgrades planned, capacity understood, costs visible, and incidents resolved and documented.
• Runbooks and infrastructure as code that let any engineer on the team operate what you built, so each new client deployment is faster and safer than the last. What You Will Do
• Build and run staging and production environments on cloud, rented hardware, and client premises: containers, PostgreSQL, object storage, GPU nodes, and model-serving runtimes such as vLLM and Triton.
• Take platforms through go-live: single sign-on, TLS, backups with a tested restore, monitoring, logging, and access control.
• Install and operate on client hardware on site, owning upgrades, incidents, capacity, and cost.
• Move workloads between cloud and on-premise as data rules require.
• Work with the backend engineers on the go-live items that are code, not configuration.
• Write the runbooks and infrastructure as code the team operates from. What Sets You Up for Success
• 5+ years running Linux systems in production, on bare metal and on at least one major cloud provider.
• Docker Compose, PostgreSQL, and S3-style object storage; CI/CD; TLS, VPN, and network segmentation.
• Hands-on experience with NVIDIA GPU workloads: drivers, the container toolkit, and VRAM and utilisation monitoring.
• Backups you have restored under drill; Prometheus and Grafana or equivalent; Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
• Practical Python: comfortable reading, debugging,
and modifying backend code and workers, not only automation scripts.
• Experience diagnosing and fixing production outages under pressure.
• Based in Italy or relocating. Italian at C1 or native level and working English; Italian is essential on client sites, and English is the working language of the Nivara team. Nice to Have
• Model-serving engines (vLLM, Triton, TGI) at scale, including GPU scheduling and quotas.
• ML lifecycle tooling such as MLflow, DVC, and model registries.
• Kubernetes (k3s or managed) and Helm.
• Streaming and messaging: Kafka or Redpanda, Apache Flink; RabbitMQ or Redis.
• Edge video: RTSP, GStreamer, or DeepStream.
• OpenTelemetry, Loki, and a secrets manager; system hardening and audit logs; working knowledge of GDPR and the EU AI Act. Why Join Nivara
