A Staff Engineer at a growing AI legal platform typically sets technical direction across product squads and keeps systems reliable as they scale. A strong candidate brings deep hands on engineering, sound system design, and the judgment to guide other engineers through complex tradeoffs. Work here centers on a platform for legal research, document analysis and drafting, so care with accuracy and trust matters.

How it fits the AI era

AI shifts much of the routine coding and drafting toward tools, so the role leans more on architecture, review and judgment about what is correct and safe. The human parts stay central: deciding tradeoffs, keeping quality high, and making sure legal users can trust the output. Staff engineers help teams adopt AI tools well rather than just faster.

How it builds AI experience

This role offers hands on exposure to building AI features into a legal product,

from document analysis to drafting support. Experience with retrieval, evaluation of model output, and safe handling of sensitive text is directly relevant. Building proof of careful testing and review of AI generated results would show readiness.

Worth showing

- System design at scale
- Technical leadership across teams
- Hands on software engineering
- AI feature integration
- Careful evaluation of output
