WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

System Administrator Linux - Freelance or Fixed-Term

Location: (on-site, 5 days/week)

Join our client's elite technical team in Rome, supporting key activities for European space programs. The company is a long-standing partner of space agencies and institutions, with deep expertise in IT systems, operations, and engineering support for ground segment infrastructures. We are looking for a hands-on System Administrator with a solid Linux background, familiarity with databases, and a B2 level of English. If you're curious about space, eager to work in a structured and international context, and ready to support a technically robust environment - this role is for you.

YOUR TASKS

- Provide operational and system-level support for test and validation environments
- Support the writing and review of technical documentation
- Participate in system verification and validation activities
- Interface with technical teams during testing and deployment phases
- Assist with monitoring, log analysis, and problem troubleshooting




- Collaborate with engineers to ensure system integrity during operational phases

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Good knowledge of Linux environments
- Familiarity with at least one relational database (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.)
- English proficiency (minimum B2) – written and spoken
- Ability to work on-site 5 days per week in Rome
- Proactive attitude and willingness to collaborate in a team
- Nice to have: Previous experience in technical documentation or test validation
- Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware)
- Knowledge of basic scripting or automation
- Background in aerospace/space/defense sectors

EXTRA INFORMATION

Work location: Rome (Tor Tre Teste area - well connected by public transport and with parking available)

Work mode: 100% on-site, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday)

Type of contract: Freelance or Fixed-Term Contract until January 2026 Possible extension, depending on project evolution
