We are looking for a client-facing experienced consultant and researcher focused on building client trust through excellence in project delivery across non-interventional/real-world evidence (RWE) and low-interventional studies as well as a broad spectrum of consulting areas (eg, clinical development, RWE, health economics, and outcomes research [HEOR]).
Job Overview
As Director, Epidemiology, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and a senior methodological leader within Fortrea Consulting. You will lead complex epidemiology and real-world evidence engagements, providing scientific oversight across study design, methodology, analysis, interpretation, and communication of findings.
You will work closely with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to address critical evidence-generation needs, support regulatory and payer decision-making, and deliver scientifically robust solutions that create meaningful impact across healthcare.
In addition to client delivery, you will play a key role in business development, thought leadership, innovation, and the continued growth of Fortrea's epidemiology practice.
What You Will Do
Scientific Leadership & Client Advisory
Provide senior scientific and methodological leadership across observational, non-interventional, and real-world evidence studies.
Advise clients on evidence-generation strategies that support clinical development, regulatory submissions, market access, and health technology assessment requirements.
Lead the design and oversight of complex epidemiologic and real-world evidence research programs.
Ensure scientific rigor, methodological excellence, and regulatory relevance across client deliverables.
Communicate complex scientific concepts and study findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, including regulatory, payer, and executive stakeholders.
Client Delivery & Strategic Consulting
Lead client engagements and act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.
Deliver strategic epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, and real-world evidence expertise across a broad range of consulting assignments.

Manage multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
Provide expert guidance on study design, data strategy, and analytical approaches to address client business and scientific objectives.
Drive quality, innovation, and excellence across all client-facing activities.
Business Development & Practice Growth
Contribute to the identification, pursuit, and successful delivery of new business opportunities.
Develop and strengthen long-term client relationships through exceptional scientific leadership and service delivery.
Lead the epidemiology component of proposals, study scoping, budgeting activities, bid defenses, and capability presentations.
Support the continued growth and market positioning of Fortrea Consulting through thought leadership and industry engagement.
Innovation & Thought Leadership
Advance Fortrea's epidemiology and real-world evidence capabilities through innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Author and contribute to scientific publications, white papers, conference presentations, and industry thought leadership activities.
Help define best practices that strengthen methodological excellence, scientific credibility, and evidence-generation standards across the organization.
People Leadership
Mentor, coach, and develop epidemiologists and multidisciplinary consulting professionals.
Support talent development, succession planning, and recruitment activities.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
Lead project teams and provide performance guidance and professional development support.
What We Are Looking For
Doctoral-level degree in Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology, Public Health, or a related quantitative health science discipline.
Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

Demonstrated scientific leadership and technical expertise in epidemiology applied to non-interventional and real-world evidence research.
Proven success leading client engagements and managing multidisciplinary project teams.
Experience developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and global teams.
Required Experience
A minimum of 10 years of experience applying epidemiological methods within consulting, CRO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, or related environments, including significant non-interventional research experience.
Doctoral-level candidates with at least 8 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
Minimum 6 years of experience leading teams, mentoring staff, and managing complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD, DrPH, PharmD, MD, or equivalent advanced scientific qualification.
Deep expertise in real-world evidence, observational research, and applied epidemiology.
Solid understanding of secondary real-world data sources (eg, claims, CPRD/NHS, EHR, registries)
Experience with external control arms/synthetic controls, natural history studies, and HEOR deliverables (eg, comparative-effectiveness studies, payer evidence, indirect treatment comparisons)
Experience supporting evidence generation for regulatory, reimbursement, and health technology assessment purposes.
Strong business development, consulting, and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience working within multidisciplinary environments spanning epidemiology, market access, biostatistics, healthcare analytics, and health economics.
Ability to influence strategic decision-making and develop innovative client solutions.
Why Join Fortrea?
At Fortrea, you will have the opportunity to shape evidence-generation strategies for leading life sciences organizations while working alongside some of the industry's most respected scientific and consulting professionals.
You will join a collaborative team committed to scientific excellence, innovation, and delivering meaningful impact for clients and patients worldwide.
