AI Engineer | Industrial Control Systems

We’re looking for an AI Developer with a background in industrial automation and control systems to build AI-powered tools that help engineering teams analyze, understand, compare, and validate industrial control configurations. The ideal candidate combines software development skills in Python with knowledge of industrial control logic and an interest in applying LLMs to real-world industrial challenges.
The role
You’ll build AI tools that work on industrial control system configurations. You’ll use LLMs to read, explain, compare and validate control logic, and you’ll ship these tools as production services used by engineering teams.
What you’ll do
- Parse and structure control system configuration exports (XML and similar formats) so LLMs can reason over them
- Build LLM-based tools that explain control logic, alarms and I/O, and that flag changes between configuration versions
- Generate technical documentation and checklists from control configurations
- Develop and deploy backend services in Python and FastAPI that integrate LLM APIs
- Work with controls engineers to validate outputs and capture their know-how
- Take part in client meetings to scope new use cases
What we’re looking for Must have
- Background in industrial automation or control systems (DCS, PLC or machine control), from work experience or academic projects
- 2+ years of software development experience, mainly in Python
- Good understanding of control logic, sequencing, protections and I/O
- Comfort working with XML and structured data
Nice to have
- Experience with FastAPI or other Python web frameworks
- Hands-on use of LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock), prompt engineering or RAG
- Experience with energy or power generation equipment
- Other PLC/DCS platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, IEC 61131-3)
- Experience with Git, Docker and basic cloud deployment
