We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience in microbial bioinformatics. The successful candidate will be involved in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Sacco's bioinformatics pipelines (approximately 70% of the role). In addition, the position will involve selected wet-lab activities (e.g. DNA extraction, PCR) and the preparation of technical reports (approximately 30%), contributing to an integrated and multidisciplinary research environment. Duties And Accountabilities
• Implement, and maintain scalable, reproducible bioinformatics pipelines for microbial genomics and multi-omics data
• Perform standard wet-lab activities when required
• Contribute to assigned projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and report writing
• Conduct literature reviews and prepare scientific presentations
• Ensure accurate data entry and proper documentation in line with internal standards Skills
• Experience in programming languages (Python, Bash, and R).
• Previous experience in managing and analyse large omics datasets
• Previous experience in the installation,



use and/or development of bioinformatics pipelines and computational tools in Linux-based environments.
• Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCRs)
• Good knowledge of statistics and data analysis applied to biological systems
• Fluent English (both written and spoken)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
• Well-organised and able to manage multiple priorities
• Team-oriented, proactive and results-driven
• Demonstrated interest in innovation, method development and emerging technologies Required Qualifications
• Master's degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biology or related disciplines, with excellent grades.
