Regional Electrical Engineering Manager – Italy
Milan | Data Centre Projects | Kirby Group Engineering
Kirby Group Engineering is looking for a Regional Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the electrical engineering function across its data centre projects in Italy.
This is a senior regional appointment for someone who knows that good engineering leadership is about rather more than reviewing drawings and attending meetings. You’ll set the technical standard, lead the engineering teams and make sure complex electrical packages can actually be built, commissioned and handed over as intended.
Who are Kirby Group Engineering?
Kirby Group Engineering is an international engineering and construction specialist delivering large-scale, technically complex projects across Europe.
The business has built a strong reputation in sectors where getting the engineering right really matters,
including data centres and other mission-critical environments. For someone joining in Milan, this is an opportunity to take a senior role in an established European engineering business while helping shape its delivery capability in Italy.
The Role
Based in Milan, you’ll take regional responsibility for electrical engineering across data centre projects in Italy.
You’ll provide leadership from design development through construction and commissioning, working closely with project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines.
In practical terms, you’ll be responsible for making sure the electrical engineering is coordinated, buildable, compliant and delivered to the standard expected on major data centre programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the electrical engineering function across Kirby Group Engineering’s Italian data centre projects.
- Manage, develop and mentor electrical engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership on complex electrical and mission-critical systems.
- Oversee design reviews, technical submissions and engineering deliverables.
- Challenge designs constructively, identifying technical, coordination and buildability issues before they become expensive site problems.
- Work closely with mechanical, CSA, BIM, commercial, planning, construction and commissioning teams.
- Manage technical interfaces with clients, consultants, vendors and subcontractors.
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications, relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive engineering consistency and best practice across multiple projects.
- Support procurement and equipment selection from a technical perspective.
- Provide engineering input throughout installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
- Help develop the engineering capability required to support continued growth in Italy.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll need strong electrical engineering credentials, but this is ultimately a leadership job.
You’re likely to have:
- Significant electrical engineering experience on major construction or mission-critical projects.
- Strong data centre experience, ideally involving hyperscale or similarly complex facilities.
- Experience leading electrical engineering teams on large projects or across multiple projects.
- A strong understanding of MV/LV distribution, emergency power, UPS, generators, protection systems and associated data centre electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing design, construction and commissioning interfaces.
- The confidence to deal directly with senior client representatives, consultants and project leadership.
- Strong commercial and programme awareness alongside your technical expertise.
- An electrical engineering degree or comparable technical qualification.
- The ability to lead people, make decisions and maintain standards when projects become busy. Which they generally do.
Why Join Kirby Group Engineering?
This isn’t simply another Electrical Manager position on a single project.
You’ll have regional responsibility and genuine influence over how electrical engineering is delivered across the Italian business. You’ll be working on major data centre projects, leading experienced engineers and helping build the capability required for the next phase of growth.
For an electrical engineering leader who wants a bigger remit without giving up the interesting technical work, it’s a very good opportunity.
Kirby Group Engineering is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
