Offer Description

This research project addresses the implementation of restorative justice within the Italian legal system, with particular attention to the regional context of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Building on a systematic and critical reconstruction of the framework introduced by Legislative Decree No. 150/2022 – in its substantive, procedural, and organizational dimensions – the research extends to an empirical field investigation, conducted through semi-structured interviews with criminal defense lawyers and judges operating in the region. This empirical activity will take place in part at the Camera Penale di Trieste for an expected period of four months, during which tutoring will be provided by the institution's staff. The aim is to assess the extent to which restorative justice instruments have actually taken hold in local practice, to identify the obstacles to their application, and to formulate operational recommendations for a more informed and effective implementation.

The position also involves supplementary teaching activities with students, as well as third-mission (public engagement) activities, in the field of criminal law. The results will be disseminated through an open-access scientific publication and a training event addressed to legal practitioners.
