About This Opportunity
The European University Institute is offering a 12-month paid Academic Service traineeship in Florence covering student administration, academic calendars, welcome and orientation, mobility, digitalisation and university-service operations.
About the Opportunity The Academic Service traineeship supports the EUI’s student-facing and academic-administration functions in Florence, including admissions/welcome, mobility, student administration/registrar work, the Scholars Hub and quality-related services. What You Will Work OnActivities include supporting the academic calendar, Special ID-card processes with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, student administration, welcome/orientation/induction, major academic events such as the Conferring Ceremony and September Orientation, and digitalisation or process work. Qualifications and Technical Background Applicants need a completed first-cycle degree under the EUI rules, generally obtained within the previous three years unless further study applies. English at B2 or above, Microsoft Office and relevant administrative or student-service experience are part of the profile. University administration, digitalisation, multicultural experience and additional EU languages are advantageous.
Compensation and Working Arrangements The traineeship is full-time in Florence, Monday to Friday for eight hours per day, and lasts 12 months. Planned start: 1 February 2027. Grant: EUR 1,540 per month, with eligible travel reimbursement and access to EUI facilities and subsidized meals.
Deadline: 2 November 2026 at 23:59 CET.
Who This Opportunity Is Best Suited For Applicant Fit Analysis This traineeship may suit recent graduates who enjoy structured administration, service delivery and coordination in an international academic environment,
particularly those considering university administration, mobility or student services.
Potential Challenges / Who May Find It Less Suitable The role is operational and process-oriented rather than academic research. Applicants seeking a research assistantship or teaching role may find it misaligned, and the 12-month Florence commitment is significant.
Overall Opportunity Assessment This traineeship offers broad exposure to how an international postgraduate institution operates behind the scenes, with a defined grant and multiple student-service functions.
