Operating across our Centers of Excellence in Genoa (Italy) and Berlin (Germany), you will contribute to the evolution of ABB's auxiliary converter portfolio through cutting‑edge solutions based on innovative topologies and next‑generation semiconductors. You will work alongside global ABB Traction teams while collaborating with Sales, RD, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure that every solution proposed is technically valid and commercially profitable. /ppThe work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid /pulliLead development of complete technical proposals /liliConduct pre-project assessments to evaluate feasibility and define optimal solution strategy /liliReview customer technical specifications for clarity and alignment with ABB's capabilities /liliEnsure profitability and commercial viability through rigorous cost analysis /liliAnalyze auxiliary converter market trends and competitive landscape to identify priorities /liliSupport RD and product strategy alignment writing market and product requirement specifications /liliProvide technical support during customer meetings and negotiations /liliBuild strong technical relationships and position ABB as a trusted innovation partner /liliCapture and manage customer requirements into a comprehensive technical mandate for RD and Engineering Teams /liliParticipate in product management forums to define next‑generation solution requirements /li /ulh3Qualifications for the role /h3ulliAdvanced knowledge of Power Electronics (DC/DC and DC/AC topologies, modulation techniques, thermal design) /liliProven experience in power conversion system development /liliUnderstanding of railway vehicle architectures and operational requirements /liliKnowledge of railway industry standards (EN, IEC) /liliMaster's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering; PhD in Power Electronics is a plus /liliMinimum 3 years in power electronics development, ideally within railway or transport industry /liliExperience with technical proposals and customer-facing documentation /liliProficiency with MATLAB and/or Simulink /liliCreative mindset with strong initiative and attention to detail /liliCollaborative approach with excellent communication skills in English; Italian and German are a plus /liliWillingness to travel approximately 30% /li /ulh3Compensation Package /h3pThis opportunity is open to candidates in multiple countries, with work location determined based on the selected candidate.
