Pyou Hong Kong, an International Recruitment Agency, is retained by our client—a leading Italian manufacturer of heavy metal forming and metalworking machinery to identify a Senior Area Manager for the Chinese market.
Location: Italy (Emilia-Romagna or neighboring regions) OR based in China. Flexible remote working arrangements are available when not traveling.
Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, the Senior Area Manager will spearhead commercial operations and drive business development across the Chinese market, a highly strategic region featuring the world's highest concentration of the client's large-scale industrial machinery. The successful candidate will leverage strong technical expertise to manage a high-value product portfolio and reinvigorate regional sales performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct complex B2B sales cycles and lead negotiations for high-value capital expenditure (CAPEX) machinery.
- Identify and secure new commercial opportunities within heavy industrial sectors, specifically targeting the steel industry, heavy automation, and industrial machinery.
- Consolidate the existing client portfolio and cultivate strategic partnerships to continuously expand market share.
- Collaborate closely with the local Chinese subsidiary to align commercial strategy, technical assistance, and market representation.
- Oversee and develop the local distribution network, coordinating agents, importers, and distributors, while orchestrating participation in strategic industry exhibitions.
- Ensure optimal customer satisfaction by accurately interpreting technical requirements and mapping appropriate machinery applications and solutions.
- Analyze competitor dynamics, technological advancements, and market intelligence to produce comprehensive quarterly reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven sales experience within the Chinese market, specifically in heavy industrial sectors such as metalworking, steel, or heavy automation.
- Advanced technical fluency regarding product applications, with prior experience in similar complex metalworking machinery considered highly advantageous.
- Trilingual proficiency: Fluency in Italian, Chinese, and English is essential to effectively navigate local subsidiary dynamics and headquarters communications.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake extensive international business travel to China, representing approximately 50% of the working schedule.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen, exceptional B2B negotiation capabilities, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into concrete business outcomes.
