Construction Site Accountant
Bureau Technical Services is recruiting experienced Construction Site Accountants for long-term freelance assignments supporting infrastructure construction projects across Italy.
We are looking for candidates with hands-on construction site accounting experience, ideally gained on road and motorway infrastructure projects.
Position Details
- Locations: Cassino, Bologna or Campi Bisenzio (near Florence), Italy
- Contract: Freelance, initially 12 months
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
- Working Arrangement: Fully site-based
- Start Date: As soon as possible, subject to the interview process
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and record daily construction site costs, including labour, materials, equipment hire, fuel and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site accounting records.
- Prepare and manage Statements of Work Progress (SAL).
- Reconcile actual site expenditure against project budgets, identifying and reporting discrepancies.
- Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes (DDTs) and agreed prices.
- Monitor subcontractor costs,
invoices and payment schedules.
- Manage supplier documentation, including insurance, registration and compliance records.
- Support weekly and monthly cost reporting and maintain organised project documentation.
Requirements
- Ideally 5–7 years of experience in construction site accounting or a similar role.
- Previous experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure construction projects.
- Experience in road or motorway construction, road maintenance, bridges or viaducts would be particularly advantageous.
- Practical experience preparing SAL reports and managing subcontractor accounting.
- Good understanding of construction costs, supplier invoices, cost reconciliation and budget monitoring.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience using STR software would be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently in a site-based environment.
- Availability to work on a freelance contract in Italy.
