Technology & Customer Integration Engineer
Do you enjoy figuring out how things work, investigating tricky problems and building practical solutions with hardware and software? Do you also enjoy working with people and helping them succeed with technology?
Quixant, part of Nexteq plc, develops specialised computing platforms and software for gaming machines around the world. We are looking for a curious, hands-on engineer who combines technical problem-solving with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in helping customers get the most from our technology. Our Italian engineering office is home to core software and firmware development. You will work alongside experienced developers and QA specialists, with direct access to the platforms, peripherals, electronics and test equipment you need to learn and experiment. No two days are quite the same. You could be configuring Linux, investigating a USB or serial device, writing a diagnostic application, preparing an OS image, testing an LED controller or using a microcontroller to reproduce a customer issue. You will also work with international customers and colleagues in Sales and Marketing, understanding their needs, explaining technical concepts clearly and occasionally joining customer visits, demonstrations or industry exhibitions. We value people who enjoy collaborating, building relationships and turning technical challenges into solutions that benefit both our customers and the business.

What You'll Do
- Get hands-on with technology. Set up, configure and test Quixant embedded PCs, peripherals, Launchpad and our Software Suite. Work with Windows and Linux, drivers, interfaces, cables and real gaming cabinet equipment.
- Own the investigation. Take customer-reported issues from initial diagnosis through reproduction, testing and follow-up. Analyse logs and system behaviour, test hypotheses, and bring clear evidence to Engineering when escalation is needed.
- Build useful solutions. Write, run and debug small applications, scripts, software examples and diagnostic tools. Turn successful prototypes into reliable, reusable ways to simplify integration, setup and customer onboarding.
- Experiment and improve. Explore development boards, microcontrollers, electronics and modern tools. Use company-approved AI assistants and agents thoughtfully to accelerate investigation, coding, automation and knowledge sharing.
- Help customers succeed. Build strong relationships with customers, understand their technical and business needs, and guide them through product evaluation, integration and troubleshooting. Join meetings, demonstrations, training sessions and occasional international visits, communicating confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support commercial opportunities. Work closely with Sales to understand customer requirements, recommend suitable technical solutions and help demonstrate the value of Quixant’s products. Translate complex technical information into clear, practical explanations that help customers make informed decisions.
- Make knowledge reusable. Spot gaps in installation processes, documentation and software examples. Create practical quick-start guides, application notes, troubleshooting steps and tools that help prevent recurring problems.
- Connect engineering and the field. Work closely with Software, Firmware, Hardware, QA, Product, Sales and Marketing. Bring customer feedback, market insights and integration findings back into improvements to our current and future products.
What We're Looking For
We care more about what you can do, how you approach problems and your willingness to learn than about job titles or years of experience. You might be an experienced engineer, a recent graduate or a self-taught developer with strong practical skills.
- Practical confidence with computers and peripherals: connecting, configuring, testing and investigating hardware/software interactions.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux, including command-line tools, software installation, basic system administration and troubleshooting.
- Ability to write and debug scripts, particularly PowerShell and Linux shell scripts (Bash), to automate system tasks and troubleshoot software configurations.
- Ability to build, modify and debug applications in at least one programming language, such as C, C++ or C#.
- A curious, structured approach to troubleshooting: reproduce the problem, gather evidence, try solutions and follow through.
- Initiative and resourcefulness, including an interest in automation, modern development tools and practical uses of AI.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, build trust, work well with different personalities and explain complex technical topics in a clear, approachable way.
- A customer-focused and commercially aware mindset, with an interest in understanding customer priorities, recognising opportunities and working with Sales to find solutions that deliver real value.
- A collaborative and positive attitude, comfortable sharing knowledge, giving and receiving feedback, and working with colleagues across different teams and cultures.
- Good spoken and written English for our international teams and customers, and willingness to travel occasionally.
Nice to have: embedded Linux or Windows IoT; electronics and diagnostic equipment; Arduino, Raspberry Pi or microcontrollers; USB, serial, GPIO, I2C or SPI; device drivers, Git, REST APIs or test automation; gaming/industrial computing and cabinet peripherals. Italian language skills are welcome.
