R&D; Team Lead
This role is contributing to the People Protection product portfolio within ABB Smart Buildings in Vittuone (Milan), Italy.
Main stakeholders are R&D;, Product Care, Quality, Operations, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, laboratories, and suppliers.
The work model for the role is: Hybrid.
This is a temporary contract position.
You Will Be Mainly Accountable For
Supporting Product Care activities for existing products, ensuring technical robustness, quality, competitiveness, and continuous improvement.
Developing and modifying 3D CAD models and technical documentation, as well as performing engineering studies and simulations to evaluate product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Designing, building, and validating prototypes in collaboration with laboratories, suppliers, and manufacturing teams, while supporting root cause analysis and cost reduction initiatives.
Exploring and applying new technologies, materials, digital engineering methods,
and AI-based approaches to improve design efficiency, problem solving, and product development processes.
Qualifications For The Role
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent Engineering qualification.
Good knowledge of 3D CAD design, with experience in CATIA V5 or Creo highly appreciated.
Basic knowledge of engineering simulations, such as structural, thermal, or multiphysics analysis, with experience in prototype development, testing, or product validation considered an advantage.
Interest in Digital Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and data-driven product development; knowledge of MATLAB is a plus.
Knowledge of SAP and PLM/PDM systems, together with good command of Microsoft Office tools.
You are interested in engineering, problem solving, and continuous improvement, with a curious, motivated mindset and willingness to learn in a collaborative international environment.
You are comfortable communicating in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
Compensation Package
