Senior Mechanical Engineer – Photonics & Optical Systems
Overview
In this role, you will design and validate mechanical, thermal, and opto-mechanical solutions for photonic modules, enabling robust, manufacturable products. You’ll collaborate with photonics, electrical, and software teams to move concepts through prototyping to high-volume production, focusing on thermal management, tolerance control, and scalable fixtures. Your work supports a multidisciplinary push to deliver integrated optical devices and modules that meet performance and reliability targets. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role at the intersection of design, testing, and manufacturing scale-up.
Responsabilità
- Design enclosures and thermal interfaces that integrate photonic and electronic hardware
- Develop thermal management solutions and perform thermal simulations to optimize heat dissipation and temperature stability
- Conduct tolerance analysis including thermal effects to ensure proper alignment and performance
- Collaborate with optical, hardware, electrical, and software engineers on integrated product solutions
- Improve calibration and test setups with fixtures and tooling for accuracy, repeatability, and scalability
- Support transition from prototypes to high-volume production with manufacturability and cost considerations
Requisiti fondamentali
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 3+ years hands-on mechanical design and thermal simulation experience
- Proficiency with 3D CAD and engineering drawings including GD&T; and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, material properties, and structural mechanics with focus on deformation and dimensional stability
- Experience using thermal and structural analysis tools with hands-on testing/validation
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, material selection, DFM, and assembly
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- collaboration within multidisciplinary teams
- clear written and verbal communication
- problem-solving and analytical mindset
- 3D CAD
- GD&T; and tolerance stack-up analysis
- thermal simulations and heat transfer
