OverviewAs RF COMM Subsystem Engineer, you will act as Technical Responsible for the RF communication subsystem of OHB Italia space missions.
You'll define architectures, performance budgets, and requirements to ensure mission-critical data links.
You'll work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver RF subsystems that meet upper-system objectives, fromKa-band links to ground data handling.
This role offers the opportunity to shape onboard communications and to drive verification and integration across mission lifecycles.
ResponsabilitàArchitectural design and trade-off analysis for RF subsystems
Define requirements for Telemetry, Tracking and Command, Inter-Satellite Data Relay, and scientific data downlink
Maintain subsystem performance budgets and key RF parameters (frequency, bandwidth, S/N, modulation, coding)
Antenna coverage analysis and radiation pattern modeling
Prepare and analyze link budgets and TM/TC and payload data links
Lead technical meetings with customers and suppliers
Coordinate technical project tasks to meet performance, budget, and schedule
Define mechanical, thermal, electrical, and EMC interfaces affecting the satellite
Specify electrical and communication interfaces between Communications Subsystem and Data Handling Subsystem

Flow down subsystem requirements to HW candidates and support procurement
Oversee development verification approach and documentation
Support AIT with test plans and procedures for integration and verification
Define protocols for ground communication and data volume transfer
Requisiti fondamentaliMaster's degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics or comparable qualification
Minimum 5 years' experience in RF Communication subsystems design
Experience with digital communication techniques and CCSDS standards
Experience with RF & data transmission subsystems up to Ka-band
Strong background in RF/microwave systems design, integration and test
Proficiency with antenna-based simulation tools (TICRA, FEKO)
Experience with RF test equipment (VNA, signal analysers, signal generators, BER analysers)
Good communication, cooperation and organization skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multitasking
Willingness to travel up to Europe (up to 1–2 times per month)
Fluent in English; Italian preferable but not mandatory
Familiarity with space standards (ECSS, NASA) and MATLAB/Simulink (nice-to-have)
