Data Integration Engineer
About Outmatic Outmatic is a tech company that designs and builds complex digital solutions for brands and companies operating in technologically demanding environments. We work on core systems, large-scale platforms and products where architecture, quality and reliability aren't abstract concepts, but everyday decision criteria. Every technical decision is made considering its impact over time, on system stability and on the people who maintain and use it.
We work with international clients taking real ownership of projects: we don't just execute requests; we help clarify problems, evaluate alternatives and build solutions that hold up over the long term. Why this collaboration We're looking for a Data Integration Engineer to join our client’s Technology department in the offices based in Bologna. This role is fully remote although it may require occasional presence in the office. It’s a contractor engagement (Partita IVA). What counts is the value you bring and the way you work, not where you connect from. This role also includes an on-call duty. It's two weeks per month from Monday to Sunday. The exact schedule will be determined with the team. Interventions happen if there is an incident. Incidents are related to queues and data flow, but occasionally they also happen in the DB, so the DB knowledge is critical in this role. On average, there are a couple of incidents every six months, but their nature is indeterministic. Your tasks and responsibilities
• Implementation of data processing flows (AWS DMS, Oracle Golden Gate, Transactional Replication, Qlik data integration, SSIS, AWS Glue)
• Infrastructure queue management (Rabbit MQ, AmazonMQ, AWS Kinesis).
• Data provisioning.
• Evaluation of the impact of the data movement on the systems stability.
• Define and monitor data policies.
• Coherence of data moved between source and destination.
• Modelling and transformation of data in coherence with data quality definition.
• Security roles implementation and encryption of data flows.
• Troubleshoot, investigate, offer and execute resolution to data flows issues.
• Monitoring, tuning and managing the data flows. Qualifications and skills we're looking for
• Understanding of how data works in the background.
• Fluency with AWS GLUE and python.
• Good understanding and experience in creation of ETL and ELT.
• Ability to convert the daily routines into runbooks used across the team in the Global Operations Center.
• Good working knowledge of SQL Server, MongoDB. Oracle and PostgreSQL are considered a plus.
• Knowledge of Terraform, DMS, and MS SSIS is optional, but considered a plus.
• Knowledge of Linux
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
• You enjoy learning new technologies and contributing to the knowledge of others. How we work (and the kind of person we're looking for) We're looking for people who are autonomous and organized, able to take real ownership of their work. At Outmatic, communication is direct and transparent: technical decisions are explained, discussed, and improved collaboratively. We prefer people who bring solutions and well-framed questions, rather than problems left hanging.
If you're interested in working on critical infrastructure, with real attention to security, automation, and operational quality, this might be the right place for you.
