The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE, Italy) will open a one-year Ethics Advisor position, with an expected start date of December 1st, 2026. This position will prepare two Ethics Reports for the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant project, entitled “READy: Connecting human brain structure to function within the READing circuitry”, which aims to advance our understanding of reading behavior in both adults and children. The project is led by Prof. Sendy Caffarra (Principal Investigator), a cognitive neuroscientist with a research focus on reading-related changes in the brain and behavior.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Expertise in clinical research with children and adults with learning difficulties;
- Expertise in personal data protection and research ethics.

Previous experience as an Ethics Advisor of European research grants or familiarity with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal will be a plus. No on-site presence is required.

Responsibilities will include:

- preparing an Ethics report at month 1;
- preparing an Ethics report at month 12;
- interacting with the research team, through periodic exchanges, to review how ethical issues are handled and to advise on any new ones that emerge;
- coordinating with the department during reporting periods.

The ethics reports should discuss how ethical issues were handled by the research team during the reporting period (especially those related to the participation of children and the collection and treatment of their personal data), whether any new issues emerged, and how they should be addressed.

The contract will have a gross compensation of 7,000 euros (3,500 euros per report). The position covers the reports at months 1 and 12, with the possibility of renewal for the subsequent reports required by the ERC (months 36, 42, 60).
The project will be based at the Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neurosciences at Unimore (Modena, Italy), which hosts multidisciplinary research bridging basic sciences, clinical medicine and cognitive neuroscience.
