Senior Principal Validation Engineer, VCSEL Optical Interconnect Test Platforms
Overview In this role you drive validation for a VCSEL-based optical interconnect program, shaping test platforms and measurement methods across global labs. You collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to bring up and validate high-speed hardware from first silicon to tape-out. You’ll design platforms, automate tests, and mentor engineers while partnering with optics vendors to ensure robust signal integrity and performance. * Set program direction for validation and bench strategy across multiple labs
* Define team roles, skills, and roadmaps for instruments and measurement methodologies
* Design and build electrical/optical test platforms and benches for VCSEL interconnects
* Develop hardware (PCBs, boards, fixtures) and manage fabrication/assembly with partners
* Create measurement techniques for optical/electrical links and validate high-speed interfaces
* Evaluate and select instruments; specify purchase requirements
* Bring up and characterize electro-optical chiplets with cross-functional teams
* Automate data collection and analysis using Python; ensure data flows and correlation
* Document test plans, reports, and guidelines; contribute technical collateral
* Build and lead a global team, mentoring engineers and coordinating with vendors Requisiti fondamentali
* 15+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's, or 10+ years with a Master's/PhD
* Expert-level experience in high-speed electrical lab measurements (oscilloscopes, BERT, VNA/TDR, AWG, spectrum analyzers)
* Expert-level optical lab measurements (power meters, OSAs, photoreceivers, fiber handling)
* Bench automation in Python (SCPI/VISA/GPIB) and data analysis (Python, MATLAB, JMP or R)
* Knowledge of high-speed board design: SI/PI, transmission lines, PCB materials, fabrication
* Experience with OrCAD/Allegro or equivalent tools
* Strong fundamentals in communication systems and analog/digital circuits
* Proven technical leadership across sites and cross-functional teams
* Good troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
* Fluent English; experience working with remote teams across multiple countries
