The Opportunity – Civil Engineer, Foundations As part of our continued international expansion, we are looking for an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our Milan office and become an integral part of APD Global's international engineering team. This position will be permanently based in Milan, Italy, working directly on major transmission line and infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. You will collaborate closely with our Australian engineering teams, contributing to the design and delivery of foundation solutions for some of the region's most significant energy infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
• Prepare foundation designs and engineering calculations for transmission line structures, including steel lattice towers, poles and associated infrastructure.
• Interpret geotechnical reports and undertake foundation assessments, considering soil-structure interaction and site-specific conditions.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, construction drawings and specifications.
• Undertake engineering analysis in accordance with relevant Australian, New Zealand and client standards.
• Support project delivery, construction queries and technical reviews.
• Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers and international project teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Skills and Experience Essential:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in civil or structural engineering design.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering, foundation design and interpretation of geotechnical investigation reports.
• Knowledge of soil-structure interaction, pile behaviour and foundation design principles.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering design codes and standards.
• Strong technical report writing, communication and problem-solving skills. Desirable:
• Experience in transmission line foundation design.
• Familiarity with foundation design software such as LPile, RSPile or BH Pile.
