Offer Description
The research will focus on the philological and literary study of texts written primarily in Classical Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic, with particular attention to the writing, criticism and reception of poetry and its relationship with other genres.
Its main aim is to examine the connections between poetics, rhetoric, metre and literary forms, exploring how these take shape in theoretical writing and textual composition from the premodern to the contemporary period. For the premodern period, the research will investigate the relationship between theoretical reflection and the rhetorical construction of texts, including within adab and in relation to other literary traditions of the Arab-Islamic world. For the modern and contemporary periods, it will examine how critical reinterpretations of the tradition and reflection on poetry contribute to the formation and redefinition of the Arabic literary canon.
