The research activity will focus on animal nutrition and feeding, with particular emphasis on host–microbiota interactions in pigs.
The effects of different nutritional strategies will be evaluated, including the use of bioactive compounds,
especially during the pre- and post-weaning phases.
To elucidate their mechanisms of action, parameters related to the integrity and maturation of the intestinal mucosa will be assessed, together with the composition and development of the host gut microbiota.
The research will adopt an integrated approach based on omics technologies, including transcriptomics, metagenomics, and metabolomics with data integration approaches using bioinformatics and biostatistical methods.
Teaching activities in the SSD AGRI-09/B and/or AGRI-09/C academic disciplines are also envisaged
