Leaky-wave focused ultrasound through metamaterial engineering
Organisation/Company Politecnico di Milano Research Field Engineering Researcher Profile Recognised Researcher (R2) Leading Researcher (R4) First Stage Researcher (R1) Established Researcher (R3) Application Deadline 3 Dec 2026 - 12:00 (UTC) Country Italy Type of Contract To be defined Job Status Not Applicable Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
Offer Description The research activity focuses on the development and validation of acoustic-metamaterial-based solutions for controlling ultrasound propagation and focusing, with particular reference to non-invasive transcranial focusing.
The project integrates the modelling of acoustic-wave propagation in complex media, ultrasound interaction with structures and metasurfaces, leaky-wave engineering, metamaterial design, and spatial control of the ultrasound field.
The research will also include laboratory experiments for manufacturing and validating the developed devices, and for assessing their ability to focus ultrasound under representative conditions.
The selected candidate will also be involved in teaching and laboratory activities in Applied Mechanics for Machines, with particular reference to wave dynamics, vibroacoustics, and acoustic metamaterials.
Oral test aimed at ascertaining candidates' aptitude and suitability to carry out the activity covered by the contract, as well as at assessing their knowledge of English and/or other languages relevant to the activities to be performed (up to 35 points)
Relevance and pertinence of the enclosed publications to the activity covered by the contract (up to 30 points)
Relevance and pertinence of previous research activities, previous collaborations to educational and third mission activities and work experience, if any, in relation to the activity covered by the contract (up to 20 points)
